Kernel Magazine

Designer and Publication Consultant

In collaboration with the Reboot publishing team, I redesigned and reimagined their print magazine, Kernel to better reflect their publishing goals.

The new design is more compact and book-shaped (better to accommodate their text-heavy articles). The design also features inline QR codes as interactive footnotes and custom illustrations created for each article. Thanks in particular to Jessica Dai and Ivan Zhao for their collaboration.

Kernel Magazine is published by Reboot, a community reclaiming techno-optimism for a better collective future.

Redesigned opening pages feature large titles and subtitles, along with custom illustrations done by Reboot members.

Pages feature scannable QR codes as a kind of nod to the hyperlink.
